For the Santa Monica Wine Festival at Barker Hangar, the planner needed artificial hedges to run the length of the hangar and create clean boundaries around exhibitor tables. Overview

The Santa Monica Wine Festival needed a straightforward rental solution: artificial hedges to define the exhibitor area inside Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The point wasn’t to dress the space up—it was to give a huge, open hangar clearer edges and make the vendor area feel organized as soon as guests walked in.

Evergreen Event Rental supported the event team over a one-month timeline, coordinating inventory planning, delivery logistics, on-site placement, and post-event pickup. The hedge system used modular sections made for quick assembly, with UV-resistant materials that hold up under bright light and repeated handling.

The Challenge

Airport hangars are busy, noisy spaces visually—long sightlines, hard surfaces, and lots of movement during load-in. The planner needed a simple way to line the hangar and create “instant areas” for exhibitor tables without building walls or getting in the way of operations.

Scale was the other constraint. This was a very large hedge order, so it wasn’t only about choosing the right look—it was about having enough product on hand, staging it properly, and delivering it in a way that worked with dock access and a tight setup window.

Our Solution

Evergreen Event Rental worked directly with the project lead to match the hedge count to the hangar layout and lock in the rental plan early enough to support a large pull. Since the system is modular, we could build long continuous runs and fine-tune on-site for spacing, corners, and last-minute layout changes.

We aimed for a clean, consistent finish that looks good in photos and in-person—full coverage, even height, and straight lines that make exhibitor rows feel planned. The hedges used UV-resistant materials so the greenery stays consistent under bright ambient light and through handling.

Implementation

Given the order size and venue footprint, Evergreen Event Rental sent three large trucks to Barker Hangar. That meant the full volume arrived in one go, and setup could keep moving without waiting on staggered deliveries.

On-site, our crew staged the hedges, assembled the modular sections, and set them in place to line the hangar where tables would go. The process stayed production-friendly: fast placement, quick tweaks, and a layout that didn’t slow other vendors during load-in.

After the festival, we came back for pickup and cleared the hedges without any headaches—quick teardown, clean load-out, and minimal disruption to venue operations.

Results

The hedge rentals gave the hangar instant structure—clear boundaries, cleaner sightlines, and a more finished perimeter around the exhibitor tables. Guests could see where the wine stations started and ended, which helped the event feel organized without needing hard barricades.
