Panel calculator

Estimate a starting panel count from your run length and layout. The math is transparent, the rate is the published 4x8 rate, and the final number is confirmed in your quote once venue access and customization are known.

Every hedge run starts with the same simple math — one standard 4-foot panel per 4 linear feet, plus a panel for each corner. Enter your numbers below to see an estimate, how it compares to your market minimum, and a starting cost.

Estimate inputs

Assumes one extra panel per corner to wrap returns cleanly: L-corner adds 1, U-shape adds 2, enclosed square adds 4.

Estimated panel count

8panels

32 ft ÷ 4 ft per panel = 8 panels + 0 corner panels = 8 panels

San Diego minimum: 10 panels

This estimate is below the 10-panel minimum for San Diego. For smaller looks, a hedge arch, hedge letters, or an artificial living wall can work as a standalone piece below the panel minimum.

Starting estimate

$1,280

Starting estimate at the published $160/panel 4x8 rate — final quotes reflect delivery, access, and customization.

How the math works

Transparent panel-count math

No black box — here is exactly how the calculator gets to its number.

01

Start with the run

Use one standard 4-foot panel for every 4 linear feet. Divide your run length by 4 and round up.

02

Add corner panels

Corners need a panel to turn cleanly: L-corner adds 1, U-shape adds 2, and an enclosed square adds 4.

03

Double for both sides

If guests see both faces of the run, double the count. Actual double-sided visibility is confirmed in the quote.

Final count depends on corners, entrances, gaps, double-sided visibility, height needs, surface conditions, branding, venue access, and setup requirements. Standard panels are 8'H × 4'L, with 4'H × 4'L, 5'H × 8'L, and 34"H × 4'L options available.
