San Diego Symphony Stage

For the San Diego Symphony’s first Symphony of the Summer, the planner needed a clean, stage-front look that didn’t blow up the budget or the timeline. Evergreen Event Rental supplied modular 4-foot, double-sided hedge rentals and installed the full run in about an hour, with delivery and pickup handled start to finish.

Overview

The San Diego Symphony’s summer program needed a tidy visual edge along the front of the stage for its first Symphony of the Summer event in San Diego, California. The brief was straightforward: add greenery that reads well from the seats, photographs cleanly, and stays out of the way of the performance.

Evergreen Event Rental provided artificial hedge rentals built for events—modular sections that can be arranged to match the stage footprint, made with UV-resistant materials for outdoor conditions. Delivery and pickup were included, so the planner didn’t have to juggle extra vendors during a tight load-in/load-out window.

The Challenge

The planner was dealing with two constraints that don’t usually play nicely together: a tight budget and a short setup window. They needed stage-front greenery that looked planned (not tacked on), without custom fabrication or a long install.

There was also the practical side: anything at the stage edge gets bumped. Crew traffic, speaker placement, last-minute blocking changes—stage-front decor has to keep its shape and stay lined up even when the schedule starts tightening.
