Case Study
Evergreen Event Rental provided a custom, modular artificial living wall rental for a wedding at Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California. Designed with the client’s in-house designer using UV-resistant materials, with delivery, setup, pickup, and teardown on a two-week timeline.
For a wedding at Hotel del Coronado, the client wanted a backdrop that felt made for the venue—something more memorable than the usual step-and-repeat or greenery hedge. Evergreen Event Rental worked with the client’s in-house designer to create a one-of-a-kind artificial living wall rental with a clean, continuous look and easy logistics.
Overview
A wedding at Hotel del Coronado needs design that holds up in a high-visibility setting without adding extra pressure on event day. For this project in Coronado, California, Evergreen Event Rental was brought in to provide a custom artificial living wall rental that could double as a photo-ready backdrop and help shape the space.
We worked with the client’s in-house designer and built the wall using Geranium Street Vallum FrX Artificial Living Wall components. The final install used a modular approach so it could be delivered, set quickly, and removed cleanly—without turning load-in and load-out into a full production.
The Challenge
The ask was straightforward: a backdrop that felt specific to their wedding at an iconic coastal venue. They didn’t want anything that looked like generic event décor, and it had to hold up close in photos.
At Hotel del Coronado, access and timing are real constraints. The install needed to fit a tight schedule, coordinate with other vendors on site, and stay predictable from a logistics standpoint. And since this was Southern California, the materials also had to keep their color and finish in bright outdoor light and possible sun exposure.
Our Solution
We treated this as a custom rental build instead of trying to force a standard panel layout. Working directly with the client’s in-house designer, we aligned on the look and how the wall would be used (as a focal point, a photo moment, and a visual anchor for the wedding environment).
The system was built around Geranium Street Vallum FrX Artificial Living Wall, chosen for its dense, camera-ready finish and modular construction. UV-resistant materials were included in the spec to help the wall keep consistent color and coverage under sun and ambient heat during the event window.
Since this was a rental, we also planned for a clean delivery and pickup—using a configuration that could be transported in manageable sections and assembled on site with minimal disruption.
Implementation
The project moved from planning to execution in two weeks. During that time, we finalized the layout with the in-house designer and mapped the on-site sequence around venue access and the broader vendor schedule.
On installation day, our crew delivered the modular components to Hotel del Coronado, assembled the wall on site, and dialed in alignment and finish details so it read as one continuous surface—not a set of obvious sections. We kept it simple: place, build, refine, then confirm positioning for the intended photo angles.
After the event, we handled teardown, pickup, and removal. The aim was straightforward—leave the space the way we found it, without the venue team needing to deal with rental materials or disposal.
Results
The finished wall created a clear spot for photos and gathering—an easy focal point that looked like it belonged in the space. Because the design was custom and coordinated with the client’s in-house designer, it read as one-of-one rather than a standard rental backdrop.
On the practical side, the modular build and included delivery/pickup kept logistics clean. The wall went in and came out on schedule, and the UV-resistant materials helped it stay consistent under bright coastal light.
The client got a no-compromises design moment without taking on a full fabrication project. It had the visual punch of a custom build, with the simplicity of a rental.
